This is one our favourite Christmas events to attend. Bethlehem Walk has been produced by Paul's home church, Parksville Baptist, for about 20 years. Our family has gone a few times over the years, most recently in 2011. BW didn't happen last year and we really missed it, so we were happy to hear it was back for this Christmas. If you have never been, I highly recommend you try to get there sometime! Hundreds of volunteers work together to turn the back yard of the church into a replica of Bethlehem as it may have been when Jesus was born. Dozens of booths with characters in costumes, as well as a few short drama presentations. It takes about 45 min. to an hour to get through everything.
Paul is still well known by many people there, and has taken part in various roles over the years. Seeing how my boys took interest in a few of the booths, I may see about finding a way for them to take part next year.

Marty was quietly watching this man as he was pretending
to pray. The man noticed him and stopped to chat. All the characters do a really great job of keeping their role as authentic as possible. They always comment to visitors about "what time period do you people come from? ... Your clothes are very strange". |
