St. John Ambulance

We are so thrilled that we met some leaders from the local St. John Ambulance branch at an event in Duncan. We didn't really know anything about the organization at all. When we were told that there are FREE first aid courses available for children - we were keen to learn more!

The boys have now attended 3 or 4 meetings, and we they are now uniformed participants! Jaxon is too young to officially enrol, but he is able to participate if there is a parent present.

Paul will take the boys to Duncan on Tuesday afternoons for Max's drumline (4:00 - 4:45) and the other boys' 15 minute drum lesson with Conor (@ 4:30 - they rotate weeks) and then to SJA training at 6:30.  This means an easy and economical dinner "out" will have to be secured, and we're working out the details of that.

Paul and I will both become Auxillary members, which means that we are approved to be there and can help out as needed at meetings or events. We don't need to wear a uniform.

We are still learning the ins and outs of the program. It is run by volunteers, so getting all our questions asked will take some time.

There are about 25 in the whole group. 

Sarah is their teacher, and she's very knowledgeable and great with the kids.

He looks very grumpy in this picture, because he was very grumpy! Class ends around 8:30 pm so it makes for a late night, and he usually falls asleep in the car
on the way home.

So did you catch on to the fact that Paul will be with the boys in Duncan from mid-afternoon until bedtime? I'm very, very excited about the prospect of a few daytime hours home alone! I'm looking forward to getting out for bike rides, homeschool prep and admin, and keeping more (much more) on top of housework. He works one Saturday a month and is supposed to take a week-day of in lieu of that, but he chose (it was his idea, I promise!) to give me this extra special gift once a week instead!
