Although his initial enthusiasm was more reserved, Marty is quite pleased with the gift as well. Thankfully, he's still content to stay in the passenger seat. I think he realizes the drivers seat is a bit out of his league.
The two times we have visited these friends, Max spent as much time as possible on the boy's red Jeep. We were there a few weeks ago and they were out in the pouring rain and wind, riding the Jeep. Max discovered they also have a shed full of cool toys, so he finally decided to stay warm and dry in there. From the first time we visited them last July, Max has not forgotten about his new friend's cool red Jeep. Well, his friend just turned 7 last week. Realizing that he had really outgrown the Jeep (couldn't get the seatbelt around himself anymore), his parents suggested that he consider passing it on to another little boy. The Nintendo DS his Grandmother gave him for his birthday seemed to be just the right incentive to agree to pass along the Jeep. Our friends asked us in church last Sunday if Max would be interested. Hhmmm ... what do you think?
Max is already very good at maneuvering, shifting gears, going up and down the bump at the driveway, watching for real traffic on the cul-de-sac, even did a little 4x4-ing over an overgrown flower bed with a brick border. When he takes his foot off the gas, the Jeep stops right away. Except if he's still got some momentum, in which case he fishtails a little bit before stopping. And he hasn't even dumped his brother over the side yet!
Paul is thrilled that he's learning these driving skills. Perhaps his goal of Max having his own lawn maintenance and excavating business when he's 13 may actually come to fruition!

ReplyDeleteAlso, the ramp... you put the ball on the ramp and it basically rolls the ball all the way down to floor level, where it then enters the alley. It's so that Hunter doesn't huck it and make huge dents:) Also to help with handicap bowling.

ReplyDeleteWhen deciding if your kids need an electric jeep, ask yourself how much are you saving a month towards their University tuitions? It comes alot faster than you think.

ReplyDeleteFor the "Anonymous" person commenting about saving for our kids' tuition costs I have this to say. First, it was a gift, free, didn't cost anything.
ReplyDeleteSecond, tuition costs are over-rated and education will always be available to those who earnestly want to expand their learning (even if you have to take out a student loan).
Third, teaching a 4yr old how to drive at this age is priceless...
