Anybody remember Nemo's friend Dory?
We enrolled each of the boys in 6 weeks of swimming lessons. Max hasn't had formal lessons since he was just over 1 year, and Marty has never had formal lessons, and not spent much time in the water at all. We wanted to give them more exposure to gain confidence. As expected, Max was a Nervous Nelly for the first lesson, very timid. He took much convincing and did much whining to get out and go play in the kiddie pool. On the second lesson, he did much better and didn't need Paul or I in the class with him. This was a little awkward because then there were two of us with Marty in his class. He would be swimming with Paul, but whining for me. The next week I stayed out and took pictures. He was still whining for me but did really well. I went in on the week Paul was really sick, and he took over again for last week. Next week we're done. Max's teacher says he'll need to do this level again, as there are a few things he hasn't completed yet. The biggest thing being floating on his back and getting his ears wet. He's very proud of going out into the deep end (on a floaty boaty thing). Marty is a kicking machine! Last week Paul wasn't even holding him on the mat. Marty just kicked his little legs and followed Paul. He seems to be much more confident than Max. I like the pictures of Paul with Marty, and I can tell that he's also looking over at Max in his class. He's such a good Papa. :)
